Morpheus

I love using the Analog Rytm as the centre piece of my tracks. In this jam it's getting support by the Analog Four and Moog semi-modulars. I'm feeding the output of the Analog Four into the Rytm which allows me to use that punchy compressor and really pump that sound. I am using the Analog Four to control the Mother-32 and DFAM through MIDI and CV. I'm using MIDI to play the Mother-32 which frees up the CV outs which I am using to control the DFAM clock and stuff like frequency cutoff. I'm feeding the DFAM and M-32 into the Analog Four really taking advantage of those effects. Moogs sound heavenly when you add some delay and reverb.

I've created a patch that allows me to use the second oscillator on the DFAM in tandem with the M-32 to create a richer sounding mono-synth which comes in midway into the jam. Such a powerful combo these Moog synths and their sound is just unrivalled.

As always I'm using the Elektron's Analog Heat to add some warmth and punch to the mix. I find the filter on the Heat a great performance tool allowing me to cutoff that low end when I'm building to a drop.

Midnight Flight

Another late night. I'm sure like many of you out there, the only time I find to really get into my zone is when the world is sleeping - and my kids... You always pay the price in the morning so I'm always happy when I get to record some good output.

This is basically using solely the Elektron Analog Rytm with a bit warmth and punch from the Analog Heat. Enjoy!

Dusk to Dawn

I have a couple of Elektron boxes and Moog semi-modulars and I've always tried to use them all together. Somehow this ended up being creatively restrictive and subsequently a lot less fun. So I decided to go with a new focused approach using only 1 or 2 machines. This has really helped me appreciate my devices a lot more and also learn new tricks but more importantly, really enjoy them.

For this sketch I'm using purely the Analog Rytm for the music and giving it a bit of saturation and compression with the Analog Heat. Both such amazing devices. I love the versatility of the Rytm and the warm low end. The compressor has a great punch that brings to life the mix. The Heat just takes everything to the next level by adding even more analog warmth and boosting the higher end that sometimes can be lacking on the Rytm.

I love it when I get new toys! I think I had enough fun with the Microbrute, but I think I hit its creative limitations. It was time to upgrade to something a little more modular than the mini beast and what better choice could there be than the moog mother-32.

I recorded a short session few days after I picked up this bad boy. The sound is so warm, accurate and powerful. Absolutely love this little thing and I am now hugely excited to grab a DFAM once I get to grips with this. Enjoy!

It's always nice when you receive your fresh label material in non-digital format and get to experiment with it. I just received the test presses the other day for the next release on Several Reasons. Since it was on the record player I thought I'd give it a go and see what I come up with.

I used some tape to loop the record at a point where a nice synth was playing. Before recording the video live i spent also some time to sample a few sounds and put them in the Rytm. I used the Microbrute to create a classic dirty acid bassline which shines throught - I love the brute, simple and elegant. I think next time I will try to work more on the atmosphere and give a bit more color.

I've hooked up my Arturia Microbrute, Electron Analog Rytm and a deck loaded with Ryoji Ikeda's "supersymmetry" and recorded a short quarter of an hour session.

I was experimenting with Ryoji's material by sampling it live on the Rytm byy first recording in Ableton in real-time and then loading the sample on the Rytm. I managed to get a deep smooth bass and nice sine harmonics.

I used the Animoog app on my iphone by running it through the Microbrute to add another input signal to the brute which fattened the sound and added some top-end detail.
